Hugh (born 1958) draws much of his inspiration from the sea and its surrounding life, from the boats and the beach life, to the birds and animals found there. A regular visitor to the Isle of Wight and the Mediterranean, his work reflects the vibrant sea-side colours and the effects of light on water that colour his world.
Largely self taught, he owes a great deal to the watercolourist Albany Wiseman and the notable Island artist Cavendish Morton. He is represented by Kendall’s Fine Art in Cowes, Isle of Wight and La Galerie d’Art Cote Marche in Antibes, France where a selection of his work is always available.
